What is a PAC?
PAC stands for Political Action Committee. It is a legal entity in which voluntary employee contributions can be combined and contributed to state and local candidates.
A PAC is the only legal and legitimate way Cox can make direct contributions to state and local candidates in Rhode Island PAC.
The Cox Rhode Island PAC was formed in 2000 as an important tool to support state and local candidates who understand our concerns and goals.
The Cox Rhode Island PAC strengthens relationships with state and local candidates and reinforces other Cox government relations efforts.
What We Consider When Evaluating Candidates
- Are they receptive to issues of importance to our businesses (i.e. a willingness to listen and understand)
- The candidate's position in Leadership and/or membership on a key committee
- How the candidate's policy viewpoints impact the state's brand
- The presence of Cox facilities or employees in their district
- A candidate's likelihood of being successfully elected
All candidates are evaluated without regard to race, national origin, religion, age, sexual preference, or political affiliation.
- CoxRIPAC will only support state and local candidates in Rhode Island
- CoxRIPAC is not affiliated with any political party
- CoxRIPAC will not promote political party agendas
